A NARRE Warren man is calling for witnesses after his pet sheep was mauled, probably by a dog, last week.
Paul Caldis told the News his sheep Rogan was attacked while in a paddock near his Fleetwood Drive Narre Warren home between 3am and 6am last Friday.
Mr Caldis told the News he suspected someone broke into the paddock with the dog.
“I’m furious that someone broke into the paddock and mauled our sheep,” he said.
A vet from the Cranbourne Equine Hospital attended the house on Friday night to put the sheep down.
The sheep suffered puncture wounds to the abdomen and its back hind legs were mauled off the bone, according to Mr Caldis.
Mr Caldis said the family received Rogan in July last year.
“He was very popular in the area. Everyone knew him because we used to take him for walks,” he said.
“We’re upset and angry and the worst part about is that our six-year-old daughter found him.”
Mr Caldis has lodged reports with Casey council and the RSPCA in the hope of finding the attacker.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Paul Caldis on 0450 567 075 or the RSPCA Victoria on 9224 2222.
