HAMPTON Park Bowls Club had a good finish to the year with three wins, a walkover and a loss in the last round before Christmas.
The Parkers topped Balmoral Gardens by 18 shots in their Division Four match-up.
Jim Westwell, Jeff Crozier, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie prevailed by four shots in a closely contested game, while Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Bob Woodfield recorded a three-shot win.
Fred McBrian, Larry Simpson, Geoff Ladner and skip Graham Slight dropped a five near the end and wound up losing by three shots, while Sean McDonald, Zac Storm, Andrew Brandolin and skip Lionel Williams had a big second half to triumph by 14 shots.
Result: Hampton Park 16-101 d Balmoral Gardens 2-83.
The Parkers continued the winning feeling in a 48-shot success over Berwick in Division Six.
Les Unwin, Vince Kovacic, Mark Paton and skip Greg Pentland enjoyed a six-shot victory, while Gerry Cox, Allan Unwin, Bob Nicol and skip Bob Naismith cruised to an 18-shot win.
Bob Meaney, Jos Van Hout, Nick Wings and skip Rob Woff bolted away to win by 25 shots, and Ray Wood, Alan Wilcock, Allan March and skip Bill Webb fell one shot short.
Result: Hampton Park 16-126 d Berwick 2-78.
The Parkers’ Division Eight side benefited from a walkover against South Oakleigh/SOC.
Hampton Park defeated Middle Park by 21 shots in SDELBA Division Four action.
The loss of a six on the second-last end cost Keith McCarthy, Vince Kovacic, Christine Hendrie and skip Neville Hendrie in their five-shot loss, while Arthur Parish, Ray Wood, Geoff Ladner and skip Graham Slight sneaked in by one shot.
Cranbourne inflicted the Parkers’ only loss, proving too strong by 41 shots in VLBA A2. Rhonda Diaper, June Damon, Ann Westwell and skip Mary Hose won by two shots to be the only winning rink. It was a nightmare day for Brian Diaper, Nola Flemming, Gail Williams and skip Christine Hendrie as they succumbed by 32 shots.
Margaret Baker, Shirley Burnside, Ellen Smith and skip Heather Naismith fared a little better with a 10-shot defeat, while Dot Carr, Ray Wood, Grace Hogan and skip Gwen Clough lost by one. Result: Cranbourne 2-114 d Hampton Park 0-73.
Congratulations to Christine Hendrie on becoming VLBA singles club champion and to Helen Lambert on finishing runner-up.
