SWIMMERS from Narre Warren and Hampton Park will be getting into deep water this weekend to promote Water Safety Week.
More than 3000 students from Swimland will participate in activities such as rescues and clothes swims as part of the Play it Safe by the Water Campaign.
Swimland manager Jo Keesman said the activities served as a timely reminder as the summer season approaches.
“It’s very important that we educate families with young children to be safer around water,” she said.
“Virtually every Australian visits a pool, beach or river during the summer season and they need to be safe so the experience is an enjoyable one.”
While learning to swim gives children a beneficial skill that can potentially save their life, parents should remain vigilant around water. Water Safety Week runs from 29 November to 7 December.
