Hands help out

THE Helping Hands Project conducted by the volunteers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a huge success, with more than 100 people turning up despite the rain.
The project, which is conducted Australia wide, aims to provide service to the community.
Teams of eight people went into 15 homes and did gardening and odd jobs for residents.
The young adults had previously carried out a service project with Legacy War Widows in June this year and their efforts were reported in the Legacy magazine.
And they returned to Fountain Gate Primary School to complete the principal’s wish list of outside chores.
The biggest achievement at the primary school was transforming a patch of bare ground into a water feature, which children can observe and use.
Several members of the church construct swimming pools and are experts in this field.
The day finished with a barbecue at the school with food provided by the church.
