CASEY’S National Youth Week, from 5 to 13 April, is welcoming the top Australian band The Getaway Plan for this year’s Fringe Fest FReeZA gig.
The Getaway Plan will perform a one-off show on 11 April from 6pm to 11pm at the Cranbourne Public Hall in Cranbourne.
The show is one of the biggest events of National Youth Week.
“There’s no shortage of fantastic events and activities for Casey’s young people to take part in during National Youth Week,” mayor Janet Halsall said.
Coming straight from a sold-out Australian tour, The Getaway Plan’s new album, Other Voices, Other Rooms, has featured as an album of the week on Triple JJJ.
The band is enjoying heavy airplay of its new single, Where the City Meets the Sea, on several leading Australian radio stations.
Support acts at the Fringe Fest include Fire Underground, House vs Hurricane, My Own Enemy, Machiavelli and the newly reformed Violin Skies.
Casey’s manager for youth and family services, Lee McIntosh, said young people and council staff had managed to organise a great week of celebrations.
“A large committee of young people have been working extremely hard with Casey’s youth services team and have come up with an amazing range of activities and events,” she said.
“The Fringe Fest gig is sure to be a standout.”
Passes for this year’s event are available from all Casey youth information centres and customer service centres.
People without a pass will have to pay $12 at the door but people with a pass will only pay $10.
The Fringe Fest is an all ages, drug, alcohol and smoke-free FReeZA live music event.
