Flair for fashion

THE Hampton Park Networking Group’s third Annual Fashion Show and Twilight Market was held at Arthur Wren Hall in Hampton Park recently.
The design competition took off this year with 11 designs that came from Hampton Park and Lynhurst Secondary Colleges, Narren Warren South P-12 College, local sewer and knitter Ann Gee and Mary Nicolaou.
It also featured a debutante ball gown handmade by 16-year-old Justine Woollard of Kilsyth
Judges Judy Davis and Larraine Calder announced Melinda Nguyen of Hampton Park Secondary College the winner with a fantastic reconstruction of a pair of jeans.
Melinda turned the jeans into a mini skirt with a tartan ruffle on the side and added some tartan material to the legs and a fur cuff to make a pair of leg warmers – which everyone mistook for boot covers.
For Melinda’s great design, she won $50 in cash and a certificate.
2nd prize of a $20 gift voucher from Spotlight went to Ann Gee with a Willy Wonka Outfit, featuring edible chocolate.
Special thanks go to Dianne Davies, Anish Lal and Sandra Wells for all their support.
