A NARRE Warren North house was destroyed after a fire ripped through it last Saturday morning.
The fire started in the Barondi Avenue house about 9.15am.
A seven-year-old girl awoke her mother as the fire took hold.
The woman grabbed her daughter and a one-year-old sibling and they fled the blazing house.
When brigades arrived, they found the house was well alight, with five-metre flames engulfing the front window.
Police responded along with paramedics, and power and gas companies were called to disconnect the power supply to the premises.
A search of the premises was conducted and confirmed that all occupants had escaped without injury.
The crews were forced to finalise their fire fighting externally due to the risk of structural collapse.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.
Crews from Hallam, Narre Warren and Narre Warren North responded to the fire.
Police are investigating whether the fire may have been started by a cigarette lighter.
They urge anyone with information to contact Detective Glenn Kilburn at Cranbourne Police Station on 5991 0600.
