THE PREP and grade six buddy program at Southern Cross Primary School has proven to be another success after their first activity of decorating smiley face biscuits.
The school’s buddy program pairs the preps with grade six students to offer them friendship and support and develop their confidence through various activities. Teacher Dr Andree Rodwell said the program that had been running for more than 14 years, not only enhanced students’ social skills but also extended their knowledge in many areas of the curriculum.
“Other activities will include literacy, maths and some more cooking,” Dr Rodwell said.
She said the buddy program also taught the grade six students leadership and communication.
