A DISTRESSED cow was anything but over the moon when it got stuck in thick mud in Hampton Park on Monday night.
In what was a rare experience, Narre Warren State Emergency Service (SES) members spent about four hours trying to rescue the distressed animal with help from Knox SES volunteers.
The eight crew members placed slings around the cow and slowly lifted it out of the mud while a local vet and an RSPCA official offered assistance.
Narre Warren SES member Kanny Lee said the cow was expected to make a full recovery from the sticky ordeal.
