PAKENHAM’S most famous tennis lovers are set to serve up another smash fashion hit at the Australian Open.
Kate Lee and Kylie Hammond, along with pal JJ McAteer, have made a tradition of being more than just faces in the crowd at the tennis.
Their bright, attention-grabbing outfits have become a staple of the event over the past five years.
“We’ll be there on the first day. That’s when a lot of people dress up, it’s the best day,” Kate said.
Television crews regularly feature the fun-loving teenagers on news broadcasts and Open sponsors put their pictures on websites showcasing the colour and excitement of the famous tournament.
They’re not big tennis players but love the drama and sense of occasion at the Open.
This year, Kate and Kylie are planning a ‘Greatest Hits’ rendition of their costumes which will again feature the Aussie flag, tennis balls, and possibly even sombreros.
“It’s good fun to dress up,” Kate said.
