Busy time for club

Probians got reconnected with nature during their plant-filled day trip.

OVER the last few weeks the Pakenham East Probus Club has had a very busy time with
outings and trips.
First, 23 members had a visit to the National Rhododendron Gardens, and were driven by bus around the vast area of the gardens, with the driver giving a great commentary of the
history of the gardens.
The show of the Rhododendrons and Azaleas was spectacular and kept the cameras clicking.
Next, the Caravan Group the Nomads had a week at Geelong, with visits to Buckley Falls,
Old Paper Mill, the Vintage Market, Eastern Beach, Queenscliff, Port Lonsdale and the You
Yang’s with only three members making it to the top at Flinders Peak. The trip was topped off
with a Chicken and Champagne Lunch on Melbourne Cup day, and the big breakfast on the
last day to help with the drive home.
The club’s next outing was a visit to Melbourne for a ride on the Star Wheel at Docklands. On
arrival, morning tea was had in the car park then on to the Star Wheel for the ride. This was
so smooth that the participants did not realise it was moving. But once up the views over Melbourne and the Docklands were just great. After the ride, the group had lunch at a hotel nearby. It was a great day all round.
