Leader’s crowning glory

A TRUE community leader for people of all abilities will be crowned next Wednesday.
Outlook Community Centre in Pakenham will host Cardinia Shire Council’s inaugural Cardinia Shire All Abilities Awards next Wednesday.
Held on International Day of People with Disability, the awards will recognise the outstanding achievements made by community members who have improved the lives of shire residents of all abilities and increased recognition of equality and human rights.
Up for grabs is the Leader’s Award, handed to someone of all abilities who leads the community by raising awareness and making positive changes to the lives of people with all abilities.
Outlook Community Services manager Julie Walton said it was delighted to host an event so close to its heart.
“At Outlook we encourage people of all abilities to become involved and actively engaged within their community in a truly inclusive way,” she said.
The awards, emceed by mayor Leticia Wilmot, will run from 10am to 11.30am at Outlook’s Toomuc Valley Road home.
