THE Cranbourne Turf club will welcome more than a huge crowd to its carnival this year, but will also unveil its $4 million grandstand redevelopment.
In one of the most significant new chapters for the turf club, the new facility will open when the cup carnival kicks off on Friday, 10 October with night racing.
The Cranbourne Turf Club has geared up for a Spring Carnival bigger than ever, with the new facility sure to attract more crowds.
The facility boasts a fully enclosed glass panelled grandstand and complete 700-seat function centre, which will be open for visitors to enjoy race day with extensive bar and food options.
The facility will open ahead of the TAC Cranbourne Cup on Sunday 12 October, one of the biggest dates on Cranbourne Racing Clubs calendar.
Chief Executive Officer of the Cranbourne Turf Club Neil Bainbridge said it’s an exciting event.
“The TAB Cranbourne Cup Carnival is an exciting event on the Spring Racing Carnival calendar,” he said.
“It warms up with a great night of racing on the Friday, before the main event on Sunday.”
“There really is something for everyone with quality racing, live entertainment and fashion.”
Cranbourne Turf Club will commence the cup carnival with night racing for the Inglis Pinker Pinker Plate, which will also launch the Browns Sawdust and Shavings Night Racing Season for 2014/15.
Cranbourne Cup Day offers something for everyone, from fashion to fillies.
For those focussed on the punting side of things, the day will have a ten race program and feature $200,000 TAB Cranbourne Cup and the $100,000 Procon Developments Apache Cat Classic.
There will also be endless entertainment trackside, with former Hunters and Collectors member Mark Seymour to perform an hour before the cup.
The much loved Fashions on the Filed will also be back for another year, with a range of prizes up for grabs.
Mr Bainbridge said the day features something for everyone.
“From a racing perspective, the field for the cup and other feature race gets better every year with some of the best trainers and jockeys wanting to compete at Cranbourne and I’m sure this year is no exception,” he said.
“Many trainers see Cranbourne as a great lead up to the Caulfield Cup.”
