THE artistic talents of local quilters and artists were on show in a special exhibition this month to celebrate a milestone occasion.
As part of St John’s Anglican Church’s 150th birthday celebrations, the Quilt and Art Exhibition was held over two days on 5 and 6 April.
St John’s Quilters and Friends group showcased more than 80 quilts that group members have created over the past three years since the group started.
There was also an art exhibition included with pieces from local artists up for sale.
In line with the celebration of the church’s 150th anniversary, there was also a nostalgia corner which included items from the past 150 years including sewing machines, crockery, garden tools, clothing and a 100-year-old Bible.
St John’s Quilters and Friends group co-ordinator Dianne Mitchell said the exhibition was a huge success.
She said it managed to raise more than $5000 which will be donated to Pearcedale’s Blairlogie Living and Learning for its work in supporting people with a disability.
“I am thrilled with the result and owe a big thank you to everyone who came and to the City of Casey who helped with the advertising and the generous donation,” Ms Mitchell said.
